Kaizer Chiefs head coach Gavin Hunt on Monday said that competing in the CAF Champions League will give his team a different perspective on how the game is played across Africa and may kick-start their league campaign.
Chiefs face Guinean outfit Horoya FC in a Group C CAF Champions League clash at the FNB Stadium on Tuesday.
It will be the Soweto giant's first foray into the group stages of the continental competition after their original opening fixture to Wydad Casablanca was postponed.
Speaking ahead of the clash, Hunt said that playing in Africa will expose his players to different styles of football which will benefit their development.
"Every game we play always comes with a certain pressure and personally I always want to do well as do the team in every competition," Hunt said.
"If we approach each game with the right intensity we'll be good and hopefully this leads us in the right path in the league as well.
"I think these types of games are good for us and gives us a totally different perspective in how football is played in other parts of Africa because the game is totally different to the PSL.
"The setup, structure and also the physicality and size of the players everything is totally different.
"It's a great avenue for us to go and discover so let's see how far we can go.
Hunt played down any expectations on his side by saying that they would take each game as it comes with the immediate objective being to qualify for the knockout stages.
The 56-year-old added that the impact of Covid-19 has affected his team greatly in what has been an underwhelming start to life at Kaizer Chiefs.
"Firstly it has affected the whole world, sometimes there are more important things than football," Hunt added.
"All we can do is pray for the people on the front-lines and hopefully this pandemic fades away over time.
"From a football perspective, it has really been tough. Every team has been affected, we've been affected at the last minute on Tuesday so it has taken a huge affect.
"From all angles, we've had no pre-season. People say the teams are unfit and that's why we have things like five substitutions and all these injuries.
"Players need those six weeks to prepare for the season and have also had no break mentally, so all of these things come into play.
"But certainly we have been affected from a personal point of view that's for sure."
Kick-off for Tuesday's encounter is at 18:00.
