A pet cat named Fu Fu’s video has gone viral in China after security camera footage caught the British Shorthair cat crying while being left at home alone during a holiday.
The two-year-old Fu Fu, from the city of Xuzhou in eastern China, was left behind by his owner Meng who had gone off to celebrate the Lunar New Year at her parent’s house in the nearby town. Meng, while talking to UNILAD, said that she thought because of Fu Fu’s shy nature, he would be happier left alone at home but the cap wept when Meng called his name through the home monitor. The CCTV footage filmed on the night of February 8 shows the cat's eyes welled up with tears as he heard the owner calling him.
Meng told Daily Mail that Fu Fu is a clingy cat who often cries when he is feeling anxious or hungry. She added that the pet loves spending time with her but to ensure he was well fed during her absence, Meng had left enough food and water for him before she left. She kept an eye out on the home alone cat through surveillance footage regularly.
The 17-second video on Douyin, Chinese version of TikTok, shows Fu Fu with eyes welled up, looking into the camera as Meng called his name through the monitor.Meng’s voice can be heard talking to Fu Fu saying, "Do you miss me?"and that she will come back in a few days.
The confused cat looks at the door before turning back to touch the camera with his paw. His eyes wet with tears and his response to the Meng’s voice is a proof how much the feline missed her.
The emotional video has gained more than 8 million likes on social media and newly famous social media star Fu Fu is now known as the ‘left behind cat'.
Meng shares that she felt heartbroken when she saw the video so she decided to cut her trip short and returned home to Fu Fu.
