If you're new to the AirPods world, well, Apple's wireless earbuds have often been associated with flaunting one's wealth and their proud owners like to "flex" their "expensive" purchase. Those who simply cannot afford a pair are nothing but considered broke in the eyes of the Internet.
Now picture this: what if a random stranger on a street plucked one of your AirPods off your ears and ran away with it?
Juan Gonzalez, the man behind the popular YouTube pranks and experiments channel "ThatWasEpic", brought one of his old pranks to life in a now-viral video that's receiving a lot of Internet love.
Why, you wonder?
Juan, in his video, sneaked up to strangers wearing Apple's wired or wireless earphones and decided to chop them off or simply decided to run away with one in case of AirPods.
Strangers, who were at the receiving end of the seemingly cruel prank, were left in disbelief. Visibly in a state of shock, the people who appeared in the video did not protest Juan's actions and wondered if it was really happening with them.
When it all looked downhill, Juan quickly returned to the strangers and handed them a pair of newly-launched AirPods Max wireless headphones each, much to the surprise of the unsuspecting folks. Happy with their $550 (approximately INR 60K) replacement, Juan's cameraman recorded their priceless reactions from a distance.
The YouTuber also offered them a replacement for the damaged earpieces in the case of wired headphones which he chopped with a pair of scissors.
Titled "Cutting Peoples Earphones, Then Giving Them Airpods Max", the video has been viewed over half a million times since its upload on February 20.
Earlier, Juan warmed hearts on the Internet when he shot and uploaded a video titled: "Giving People $2021 To Start Off The Year".
The video was exactly what it promised in the title and its thumbnail. Juan, the YouTuber, walked up to unsuspecting citizens on the streets and introduced himself before pulling out the money from his pocket and handing them the generous amount of $2021. He then asked them to make 2021 "their year" before casually walking away from the camera frame.
The video uploaded in January captured the priceless reactions of recipients of the money, who were bewildered by the generous offer. Some wondered if the YouTuber was playing a rude prank on them and even had a good look at the money while accepting it.
