BMW Motorrad India has launched the all-new BMW R 18 Classic as a completely built unit (CBU) at ₹ 24 lakh (Ex-showroom). The R 18 Classic is the second member of the BMW R 18 cruiser segment, and gets some additional equipment over the standard BMW R 18 to make it more touring friendly. It gets a slightly different passenger seat, a clear windshield, a pair of leather-finished saddlebags, extra LED aux lights, and a smaller and wider, 16-inch front wheel. The R 18 Classic is powered by the same 1,802 cc, air-cooled Big Boxer engine of the standard BMW R 18.

The new BMW R 18 Classic continues to be powered by the air and oil-cooled two-cylinder boxer engine, the most powerful boxer in series production by BMW. The 1,802 cc engine produces 91 bhp at 4,750 rpm, and maximum torque of 158 Nm which is available from 2,000 to 4,000 rpm. The R 18 Classic comes with an anti-hopping clutch, eliminating unwanted rear wheel hop, and with a 6-speed transmission. A reverse gear is available as an optional extra. Like the standard R 18, three riding modes are offered, Rain, Roll and Rock. The electronics suite includes safety features such as Automatic Stability Control, Dynamic Engine Brake Control, and Hill Start System. Keyless ignition and electronic cruise control are offered as standard.
