AMBALA: A farmer destroyed his wheat crop spread over half an acre land in the district’s Manakpur village on Tuesday in protest against the central government's three farm laws.
The farmer was mowing down his crop with the help of his tractor.
After the matter came to the notice of Bhartiya Kisan Union (Charuni) district vice-president Gulab Singh, he cam to the field and managed to convince the farmer to stop destroying the crop and think about donating it to someone needy.
Gurpreet Singh, the farmer who crushed the wheat crop, said “BKU leader Rakesh Tikait had asked the farmers to crush the crops. We have been protesting against the black laws but the government has not accepted our demands. We raise crops like children. I will now take the remaining crop and donate it to someone rather than selling it in the market.”
BKU leader Gulab Singh said, “Farmer Gurpreet belongs to my village, who had sown wheat in nearly seven-acre land. I came to know that he has planned to mow down his crop to mark his protest so I went there and requested him not to do such an act. We request all the farmers not to destroy their crops. If they do not want to take their crop to grain markets then they can donate their crop to needy people. I appeal farmers not to start a wrong trend by destroying own crops."
"We will struggle through the movement and force the government to accept our demands," added Gulab.
