Telangana: SI injured as drunk biker rams him in Hyderabad's KPHB Colony

HYDERABAD: A sub-inspector suffered injuries while intercepting a drunk biker at KPHB Colony in Telangana capital Hyderabad on Tuesday.
The accused managed to escape from the spot while police shifted the injured cop to hospital.
A man hunt has been launched to nab him.
At 12.30am, a team of cops from Kukatpally traffic police station was conducting a drunken driving check at JNTU Rythu Bazar on JNTU-Hitec City Road.
The team tried to intercept a bike (AP 28 DW 6541) going towards JNTU.
Instead of stopping the vehicle, the biker tried to escape by driving in the wrong direction towards Forum Mall.
The accused noticed that a cut-off party constable was standing there to prevent people like him from escaping and he turned the bike again towards JNTU.
"The offender rode the bike at a high speed to escape from the traffic police and hit SI K Rajeshwar who tried to stop him finally the bike rammed into barricades and other cops caught him," KPHB inspector S Laxmi Narayana said.
The blood alcohol count of the accused, G Sai Kumar, a scrap vendor from Miyapur, was 175 mg/ 100 ml.
The SI who suffered a leg fracture underwent surgery at a nearby hospital.
Police registered a case against him under Section 333 of the IPC and the MV Act for causing grievous injury to a public servant while driving under the influence of alcohol.
