'Tandav' row: Amazon India Originals' head Aparna Purhohit records statement at Lucknow police station

Lucknow: After getting a stay on her arrest from the Allahabad High Court on Monday, the India Head of the Amazon Prime Aparna Purohit got her statement recorded at the Hazratganj Police Station on Tuesday.

The High Court had granted a stay on her arrest but directed her to cooperate with the investigating agency and get her statement recorded in a case filed against her and others in connection with controversy over the 'Tandav' web series.

She stayed at the Police Station for about 3 hours and answered questions of the investigating officer who recorded her statement.

An FIR was lodged by a Sub-Inspector on January 18 against Amazon India Head Aparna Purohit, Tandav, web series director Ali Abbas, producer Himanshu Kishan Mehar and writer Gaurav Solanki under Sections 153A, 295, 505(1) (b), 505(2) 469 of the IPC and Sections 66, 66 (f) and 67 of the IT Act.

The SI had charged the accused for using derogatory words against Hindu deities with an intention to divide the society and incite communal violence.
