
Lions coach Ivan van Rooyen has handed the reins over to Mziwakhe Nkosi for the upcoming preparation fixtures.
Nkosi will, a former SA Schools coach and last year's under-21 coach at the Lions, will operate as the senior side's head coach over the next few weeks.
The Lions begin their preparation fixtures for April's Rainbow Cup with a clash against the Pumas at Ellis Park on Friday.
Nkosi will be assisted by Wessel Roux while Van Rooyen will oversee proceedings.
On Tuesday, the Lions announced their side for the clash against the Pumas and they will be captained by lock Reinhard Nothnagel.
"The Lions team taking part in the preparation matches will vary from week to week in an effort to give young players opportunity and create excitement as well as preparing for the north," the union said in a statement.
Kick-off is at 19:00.
