Noida/Ghaziabad: In the first mop-up round conducted on Monday for frontline workers (FLWs), Noida and Ghaziabad managed coverage of only 28.9% and 39%, respectively.
“Out of the 8,062 FLWs registered for the vaccination drive on Monday, only 2,405 turned up. They were administered the Covishield vaccine and no cases of AEFI were reported. There will be a second mop-up round for FLWs on February 25. I also urge the sanitation staff of Noida authority to get themselves vaccinated as their presence is dismal,” said Dr Neeraj Tyagi, district immunisation officer, in-charge of Covid vaccination in GB Nagar.
He also said healthcare workers (HCWs), who were vaccinated on January 28, will be given the second dose on February 25.
Noida Authority CEO Ritu Maheshwari was expected to take the jab on Monday, but will do it in the second mop-up round on Thursday, said GB Nagar chief medical officer (CMO) Dr Deepak Ohri.
“Till now, 61% FLWs have been vaccinated,” said Dr Ohri, adding that no problems related to the Co-WIN portal were reported on the day.
Other senior officials who took the jab from GB Nagar on Monday include Rajinikanth, the deputy district magistrate of Jewar, Balendu Bhushan Verma, naib tehsildar, Bharat Sharma (legal) and Netrapal Singh (lekhpal). They took the jab at the community health centre (CHC), Jewar.
Meanwhile, at the Child PGI in Sector 30, a total of 150 FLWs got vaccinated across two session sites. However, the numbers were dismal as only 46 FLWs from GB Nagar turned up for the drive while 104 of them were from other districts posted in GB Nagar.
“Their data will be added to their respective district’s count,” said Dr Akash Raj, the medical superintendent of Child PGI hospital.
Instead of the 9,168 frontline workers who were slated to be vaccinated at 62 sessions across 26 centres in GB Nagar for Monday’s final mop-up round, 8,062 registered FLWs were finally expected across 54 session sites.
Over 1,000 FLWs from the district are posted outstation, officials said. Till 2pm, about 18% (1,467) FLWs had been vaccinated. Some senior government and administration officials, including DM, CMO, CEO GNIDA and YEIDA, have already been vaccinated in the last round held on February 18.
In the mop-up round in Ghaziabad, the drive was conducted at 45 centres with a target to vaccinate 6,415 frontline workers. By the evening, 2,483 frontline workers got vaccinated. Given a large number of FLWs are yet to be vaccinated, another mop-up round will be held on February 25.
The top officials of the district, including district magistrate Ajay Shankar Pandey and senior superintendent of police Kalanidhi Naithani, also took the Covid vaccine on Monday.
So far, four such sessions have been organised for front-line workers in the district. The DM also presented a bouquet of flowers to the medical staff administering the vaccine.
