The third Test between India and England at Motera is going to be a special one for many reasons. Ishant Sharma could perhaps become only the second fast bowler from India, after Kapil Dev, to appear in 100 Tests for the country. Looking back, Ishant talked about his journey with the Indian team, his white-ball career and also the special landmark.

For the last few years, Ishant hasn't been part of the limited-overs team. On being asked if that played a crucial role in helping him reach close to 100 Tests, the lanky fast bowler refuted it instantly. Talking ahead of the third Test, Ishant said, "One can see it as a blessing in disguise, but I wouldn't like to believe that.

"I'm just grateful to be playing one format as well, and making the team win. I don't think, had I played a lot more white-ball cricket, that would have stopped me from playing these many red-ball matches. It would have happened at some point in my career. Perhaps, all this has happened because I pay a lot of attention to my fitness and recovery."

Talking about fitness, he was also quick to point out that it was important to stay in the moment and not look too far ahead. While England has the likes of James Anderson, who is going strong at 38, Ishant doesn't want to put undue pressure on himself, for thinking about playing for that long for the country.

"It is far-fethched to think about, if I would playing at 38. Earlier, I used to only train hard, but now I focus more on recovery. Everything is paying off for now."
