Kolkata, Feb 22 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday to
unveil a slew of railway projects including flagging off
extended Noapara-Dakshineswar route of Metro, even as media reported that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is unlikely to skip the government programmes.
Nabanna, the state secretariat, sources today said that the chief
minister is scheduled to hold a cabinet meeting and some other works and may miss the railway programme.
The Metro Railway has been told that Ms Banerjee would not be able to attend the event because of her administrative meeting.
“She was invited but she is not attending the events where PM Modi
will be present,".
The skipping of many centrally sponsored government by the chief
minister is not new as she recently skipped two such programmes
at Halida in Medinipur and Victoria Memorial in the city.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to lay foundation stones of various
railway projects and flag off newly laid Noapara-Dakshineswar
extended route and address a public meeting at the Chinsurah Dunlop
ground in Hooghly district this noon.
