Deputy chief minister and state finance minister Tar Kishore Prasad presents Bihar Budget 2021. Here are the highlights:
* Call centres to be established to ensure door-step treatment for animals. Mobile apps will also be launched to ensure the same.
* All villages to have solar street lights.
* Rs 250 crores allocated to build links roads in rural areas.
* Budget allocates Rs 90 crore for old-age homes.
* Govt to give Rs 25,000 to unmarried women on passing intermediate exams and Rs 50,000 after they have completed their bachelor's exam.
* Govt has approved 1,15, 116 applications for students credit card scheme.
* Budget allocates Rs 500 crore animal husbandry and fish farming.
* A sports university to be set up in Rajgir.
* Budget allocates Rs 110 crore for new engineering colleges in the state.
* Three new medical colleges are under-construction in the stat, says Tar Kishore Prasad.
* All 38 districts declared ODF (Open Defecation Free).
* Congress leader Pratima Das demanded lifting of the ban on liquor in Bihar as the state government is unable to implement Liquor Prohibition Act.
* Opposition MLAs protested in and outside of the assembly over various issues including closed sugar mills, paper leak of class 10 board, farm laws, and high petrol and diesel prices, during Question Hour. At one point, they reached the well of the House.
* Legislators of opposition parties staged a massive protest before the budget speech.
