Stock market update: Nifty Auto index sheds over 2%; Mahindra & Mahindra tanks 5%

NEW DELHI: Nifty Auto index was trading on a negative note at 02:18PM (IST) on Monday.

Shares of Mahindra & Mahindra (down 5.03 per cent), Bosch (down 3.62 per cent), Eicher Motors (down 2.96 per cent), Bharat Forge (down 2.89 per cent) and TVS Motor Company (down 2.86 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

While Amara Raja Batteries (up 1.65 per cent), Motherson Sumi Systems (up 0.98 per cent) and Hero MotoCorp (up 0.4 per cent) were among the top gainers.

The Nifty Auto index was trading 2.24 per cent down at 10303.8 around 02:18PM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 282.95 points at 14698.8, while the BSE Sensex was down 1069.05 points at 49820.71.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 10 were trading in the green, while 40 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, PNB, IDFC First Bank, Bank of Baroda and Central Bank Ind were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Hind Copper, Ratnamani Metal, Vaibhav Global, Aditya Birla Capital and Varun Beverages hit their fresh 52week high in today's trade, while Sanwaria Consumer Ltd., Silly Monks Entertainment Ltd. and Marine Electricals (India) Ltd. hit fresh 52week low in trade.
