Texana Grill, formerly known as Republic Chicken, has closed operations.
The restaurant near Beaumont’s hotel corridor on Interstate 10 announced on its Facebook page Saturday that it would be closing after Sunday brunch, but was unable to open the next day because of a lack of staff.
John Swift, the restaurant’s owner, thanked patrons for their support in a post, calling them family.
“Seriously, thank you for supporting us; you have enriched our lives beyond measure,” Swift said.
Customers of the restaurant during its current iteration and from its time as Republic Chicken reached out with condolences and shared memories of their favorite times at the restaurants.
More than 250 people had commented on Swift’s original post by Monday morning.
Texana Grill shifted focus on chicken to a full chef-inspired menu last August, rebranding to offer more experience-based dining.
Republic Chicken moved to the I-10 location in 2018, after leaving the old location of Sartin’s Seafood West on Fifth Street.
