Dozens of Boeing 777 grounded after Denver incident

Washington, Feb 22 (UNI) US airplane manufacturer Boeing on Monday announced that it has recommended the grounding of all of 777-model aircraft, which have the same type of engine that apparently failed and shed the debris over Denver on Saturday.
In a statement issued here, the airplane manufacturer said that as many as 128 Beoing-777 jets should be suspended until proper inspections are carried out, a BBC report said.
United Airlines and Japan's two main operators have already stopped using 56 planes with the same engine.
United Flight 328 carrying 231 passengers, bound for Honolulu, suffered a failure in its right-hand engine, soon after take off. It was forced to make an emergency landing at Denver airport.
While it was trying to return to Denver airport, debris from the jet got scattered over a nearby residential area. Though no one was injured in the incident, but it once again ignited debates about aviation safety.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), United Airlines is the only American airline flying this model of 777, apart from Japan and South Korea.
Korean Air, which has six planes in operation and 10 in storage, said it was awaiting instruction from South Korean regulators regarding any measures for its 777 jets.
The agency has ordered extra inspections of Boeing 777 jets fitted with the Pratt & Whitney 4000 engine following the incident.
