- Speaking to Channel24, the singer shares what inspired the song, as well as what it has been like creating music during lockdown.

Durban-based singer Kyle Deutsch is back with new music. The Can't Get Enough hitmaker has teamed up with Shona SA on an upbeat, feel-good track titled Home.
Chatting to Channel24, Kyle opens up about the inspiration behind the track and what he wants fans to take away from it. The singer also speaks about creating music during lockdown and the impact the pandemic has had on the local entertainment industry.
"I was away from home working late, following the lights back to wherever we were staying that evening, missing the sun, the culture, my people," Kyle says as he begins to explain the inspiration behind Home. "Ultimately, I guess it's the notion that no matter where in the world you are, the comfort and security that comes with 'home' is incomparable."
The track is little different from what we've heard from Kyle in the past, with more of a house/dance influence. But the singer has a way of effortlessly slipping into any genre and making it his own.
"Suppose it is kinda Deutsch style to not stick to a genre per se," he tells us. "No matter the track, though, I'd always hope the attention to the catchy elements in production complemented with the vocal delivery and songwriting stands out. I hope the fans enjoy the real positive vibe and energy of the track as much as I do."

The pandemic has changed the way many artists create music. "In an ideal world, I'd love to be in studio from start to finish with a producer, instrumentalist, and whoever is in the room at the time -- with Home, this was definitely not the case," Kyle explains.
"Shona originally sent me the track when I was in Cape Town, with another vocal laid on top. I'll never forget that day bumping it in the car on the way to a shoot; I really enjoyed the beat and decided to re-write whilst in Stockholm early last year. Vocals were sent back to Shona, and we finished off some parts when I was back in Johannesburg. This song has travelled. We then finished the track off sonically via plenty of video calls during this lockdown period."
As he slowly returns to "somewhat normal studio sessions with a small crew", Kyle is excited at the prospect of loads of new music in 2021 as well as a new EP which is expected to drop in May.
Projects to look out for from the star in March include We Have it All with Aewon Wolf and Lover's Fever with Tim Lewis. Kyle also promises some "really interesting developments in the fashion sector", which he hopes to announce soon.
For now, the singer is encouraging brands to get behind artists as they try to recover from a financially straining year.
"The summer season is over, and to top of a dead year, what is usually the busiest part of the year for artists was non-existent. So with those fruits not being reaped, and gigs, concerts, festivals etc., still a thing of the past, livelihoods will be tested, and thus creativity in the audio-visual space is going to be really tough for all. I hope that the brands are able to financially get behind the artists to keep the culture alive and the standards progressing."
