IPS officers from Odisha on cycle expedition to promote cycling

Kendrapara, Feb 21 (UNI) Two senior IPS officers and 22 other members of Bhubaneswar Cycling and Adventurous Club(BCAC) including Doctors and Engineers today participated in a 200 km long cycle expedition.
The 24 members of the club led by senior IPS officer Sanjib Panda, the State Transport Commissioner, and the Additional DG Lalit Das, started their expedition on a bicycle from Bhubaneswar at 6.30 AM this morning and reached Pattamundai via Salepur at 1200hrs covering a distance of 100 KM.
They then planned to return to Bhubaneswar before evening and targeted to complete 200 KM within 13hours.
Mr Panda, the Club President said the event was conducted under the affiliation Audax club France to promote cycling, reduce pollution, save the environment and to save the world from global warming.
The Transport Commissioner requested people to ride bicycles if they have to cover a short distance of two KM or so and to avoid motorbikes. It would keep them fit and save money.
Kendrapara Cycle and Adventure club Convenor Matrudutta Mohanty who is also the SDPO Kendrapara, along with other members of the club felicitated the visiting team members from Bhubaneswar.
