5 major style lessons to take from Janhvi Kapoor's Instagram page

Quite unlike the average gen-Z girl, Janhvi Kapoor's wardrobe is all about celebrating the classics

Janhvi Kapoor is a true blue gen-Z star, but also seemingly an old soul at heart, if her sartorial choices are anything to go by. Yes, her wardrobe may have its share of hot shorts and crop tops, but going by her collection of breezy kurtas and evergreen saris, it's evident that her style veers towards timeless pieces. A dive into her personal style serves as a crash course in how to work the classics. These are the elements of Janhvi Kapoor's personal style.

1. Chikankari kurtas for the win

Janhvi Kapoor is a known fan of the kurta and undoubtedly what stands out is her collection of chikankari sets. The classic takes her through everything from meetings to kathak sessions. Fuss-free, yet graceful, the actor loves pairing them with jhumkas, juttis and often, a bindi.

2. Channel your inner movie-star glam

In true Bollywood fashion, Kapoor keeps her heavy Indian wear looks high on drama. This is usually achieved by turning to her favourite silhouette—the lehenga. The actor doesn’t shy away from bright hues and elaborate embellishments. Her hair worn in loose waves and a pair of chandbaalis are typically the finishing touches to her wedding and festive looks.

3. Go red or go home

Clearly, Kapoor is partial towards the colour red. From saris to gowns, the actor can pull off any silhouette in the hue. In an Instagram post in 2019, she pretty much summed up her love for the fiery hue with the caption, "Tone down the drama or leave."

4. Bling is her thing

When you're literally born into Bollywood, drama is a given. And Kapoor certainly knows how to dial up the drama with bling. For instance, earlier this month, she posted a picture wearing a metallic mesh dress with the caption, "Is it weird that we did this for fun on an off day." A quick scroll through her Instagram is proof of her love for sequins and metallics and will definitely inspire you to amp up your wardrobe.

5. Don’t underestimate a classic sari

Kapoor also has no qualms about proclaiming her love for the sari. In January 2020, she posted a picture of herself wearing a pink sari with the caption, "Can I live in a sari forever!" A couple of days later, she posted another picture in a red sari (no surprises there) with the caption, "Sari dreams coming true." In fact, she even pulls off casual saris with such grace, whether it's a signature Manish Malhotra drape or a flirty Arpita Mehta number.
