The Supreme Court on Friday issued notice to the Karnataka government and others after hearing a plea filed by Congress MLA of Pulikeshinagar Constituency R Akhanda Srinivasamurthy, challenging the bail granted to former Mayor of Bengaluru Sampath Raj and former Corporator Abdul Raqueeb Zakir in the alleged East Bengaluru violence on August 12, 2020, which claimed lives of four people.

Palike wants to rehire doctors it had laid off

The civic body cited lack of funds and reducing infections while relieving the 103 MBBS and BDS doctors it hired on a six-month contract to handle the pandemic in August 2020.
Nimhans to sequence +ve samples of Kerala returnees
Nimhans is set to conduct genomic sequencing on swab samples taken from students in nursing colleges in Mangaluru and Bengaluru who tested positive for Covid. The aim is to check if a new variant of the SARSCoV-2 virus was responsible for these outbreaks. The samples were delivered to Nimhans on February 16. Read more
