Colva police arrested two persons for organising a bull fight and also for subjecting animals to cruelty at Benaulim.
The bullfight, according to Colva police, was organised in fields for the entertainment of public, thereby subjecting the animals to cruelty. Names of the two alleged accused were disclosed by Colva police as John Fernandes and V Fernandes, both from Benaulim. Both were released on bail of Rs 5,000 each with one local surety of the same amount.
Norma Alvares of the People For Animals, Goa had complained in that regard.
She had sent a letter to Colva police regarding report of a criminal incident involving animal cruelty and had demanded investigation. She had stated that on February 16 some people organised a bull fight in Benaulim fields.
The copy of the letter was also sent to Mukesh Kumar Meena, Director General of Police; Ruchika Katyal, IAS, District Collector, South Goa, and others.
People for Animals (PFA), Goa had made a request to register a police complaint and conduct an immediate investigation into the dhirio organised in South Goa village.
