Congress only played 'soup diplomacy' with China: Anurag Thakur

SHIMLA: Union minister of state for finance and corporate affairs Anurag Thakur on Friday said that the Congress has only played “soup diplomacy” with China while questioning the valour of India army. He said that transgressive policy of China had to kneel before Indian Army and the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
While addressing the concluding session of State BJP Executive Committee meeting at Dharamshala in Kangra district on Friday, Anurag Thakur said that the way situation was prevailing along the borders with China, scenario would have altogether been different had Congress been in power. He said that Rahul Gandhi was making big speeches earlier too when Doklam issue was going on, and was having soup with Chinese Ambassador.
“But we have not let China occupy even an inch of our land. After previous BJP regime of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, for the first time our Army has given befitting reply to transgressive policy of a country and credit goes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi led government,” he said.
Accusing the Congress of ruining the country’s economy, he said that when BJP came to power and acquired power from Congress at Centre, India’s economy was among one of the 5 fragile economies of the world. “But under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi today India is among the first 6 economies of World and this has become possible only because of vision and leadership of Modi,” he added.
He said that when Congress handed power to Modi, forex reserve of country was 298 billion dollar but since Modi government came to power today forex reserve has increased to more than 591 billion dollar. “What successive Congress regimes could collect in 70 years as forex reserve, Modi government has collected double than that in 7 years,” he added.
He said that the Modi government is committed to make India an economic superpower and to shape the future of 125 crore countrymen. He said that to make India a $ 5 trillion economy and make the country self-sufficient, Modi government has done more reforms than 1991. He said that in all those areas of coal, mineral, power, defence sector, civil aviation, social infra project, space and atomic energy, such major reforms have been done which will write the future of a strong, capable and prosperous India.
