All Hardin and Orange County residents 65 years of age or older who joined the county’s COVID-19 waiting list prior to Feb. 5 have an opportunity to get their first dose this weekend.
Hardin County Judge Wayne McDaniel said several people on the county’s wait list who fit those parameters haven’t yet had their first dose because they didn’t answer the phone, provided the wrong number or an email got lost in sending.
“Whatever the reason, we want to get everyone age 65 plus taken care of who have been waiting for the vaccine,” he said.
To address the issue, the county’s health department, which covers both counties, will have two vaccine clinics from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The Hardin County clinic will take place at the Lumberton ISD Performing Arts Center, 103 S. LHS Drive, and the Orange County clinic will take place at the Orange County Convention & Expo Center, 11475 FM 1442.
The county has broken that time period down by last name to keep the number of people coming at one time down to about 50.

McDaniel said clinic attendees’ age will be verified using an identification card and a review of names remaining on the county’s waiting list.
The amount of vaccine is limited, he said. So an additional clinic may have to be scheduled on another date. The county hopes to vaccinate at least 1,000 people on Saturday, including a morning appointment-only clinic.
