Karnataka reports 386 fresh cases of COVID-19

Bengaluru, Feb 19(UNI) Karnataka reported 386 fresh cases of the COVID-19 in the past 24-hours, taking the total number of people infected from the virus to 9,47,246, authorities reported on Friday.

According to official sources, as many as 291 COVID-19 patients, got discharged from various hospitals in the last 24-hours, after being completely cured from the disease.

There are currently about 5,882 active cases in the state, the sources said.

The sources also informed that as many as 5 people had succumbed to the disease in the last 24-hours, taking the total number of fatalities from the disease to 12,287.

In the last 24-hours, as many as 61,440 people had undergone tests for the COVID-19 on Friday, including that of 3,973 of the Rapid Antigen Detection tests, the sources added.

Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 19 (UNI) Dr Balram Bhargava, Director General of Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), said on Friday that interim results of the ongoing clinical trials indicated that the indigenous COVID-19 vaccines would be effective against the mutated virus strains reported from the United Kingdom, South Africa and Brazil.
