New Delhi, Feb 19 (UNI) Delhi High Court on Friday ordered Delhi Police to not to leak any information related to the investigations in 'Toolkit case' as the accused Disha Ravi has alleged "one-sided and half-truth" reporting by some broadcasters.
Justice Prathiba M Singh, while hearing the writ petition filed by 22-year-old climate activist Ravi over reporting, ordered the Delhi police to follow media policy guidelines in letter and spirit.
Union Ministry of Home Affairs, had released an office memorandum in 2010 titled--Advisory on Media Policy of Police--which lays guidelines while dealing with press in major criminal and offenses.
The Court also asked the Delhi Police to ensure that there is no leakage of sensitive information during the investigation of the alleged Toolkit case.
Also, Justice Singh, observed that Editors should ensure that editorial standards are maintained while reporting the case and their report should not affect the ongoing investigation.
Ravi had levelled allegations against broadcasters--Times Now, India Today and CNN News 18--for publishing "one-sided defamatory, suggestive innuendos and half-truths" in the case.
As per police, Ravi created the toolkit and shared it on social media.
The toolkit, according to the police, is a document of farmers' protest that has a section titled 'prior action plan' about digital strikes to be conducted through hashtags on and before January 26 and tweet-storms from January 23.
