Feb. 19—A Meadville man is headed to trial on charges that he was found in possession of a large amount of controlled substances and drug paraphernalia after attempting to flee from police in an incident in the city last month, according to the criminal complaint filed in the case.

Sean M. Reese, 39, who resides in the 300 block of Pine Street, was held for court following a preliminary hearing Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge Samuel Pendolino.

Meadville Police Department charged Reese with refusing to stop his 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer when given visual and audible signals to do so at approximately 8:55 p.m. Jan. 23.

Among the controlled substances and drug paraphernalia police accuse Reese of possessing when he was eventually stopped were single doses of pregabalin, Lyrica and clonazepam; a small amount of marijuana; a digital scale and plastic bags, according to the criminal complaint.

Reese's license had been suspended at the time he was arrested due to previous driving under the influence offenses, according to police.

Reese faces a felony charge of possession with intent to deliver plus misdemeanor charges of fleeing an officer, operating a vehicle with a suspended license for third or subsequent violation, possessing a small amount of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He also was charged with two summary traffic offenses.

Reese remains in Crawford County jail in lieu of $30,000 bond. A trial will be scheduled for the June term of Crawford County court.
