Samsung may dump Tizen for smartwatches, next Galaxy watch may run WearOS
Samsung has launched smartwatches based on its own Tizen OS, instead of Android Wear OS. However, a new rumour now suggests that in 2021, the company may choose to launch Google’s WearOS-based smartwatches.

According to a tweet by Ice Universe, who has had a track record of providing genuine leaks when it comes to Samsung, has claimed this on Twitter.

Another report by GalaxyClub has also claimed new information about the upcoming smartwatch lineup from the South Korean tech giant. As per the report, Samsung is going to launch two smartwatches in 2021 that bear model numbers SM-R86x and SM-R87x. Two model numbers are expected to be the two screen sizes in which the watch is expected to be launched.

There hasn’t been a constant launch cycle for Samsung’s smartwatches. The original Galaxy Watch launched in August 2018. Following this in 2019, the company launched a Galaxy Watch Active and a Galaxy Watch Active 2. The Watch Active series is a slightly more affordable lineup than the standard Galaxy smartwatch lineup.

Then in 2020, the company made the Galaxy Watch 3 official but as of now there is no word on the launch of the Galaxy Watch Active models.
