McDougall was recently vice chair of the UN Committee to End Racial Discrimination (CERD), the first UN Independent Expert on Minority Issues, and the Special Rapporteur on the issue of systematic rape and sexual practices in armed conflict. She has spoken at the Sorensen Center almost every year with previous talks covering CERD’s Response to Charlottesville, China’s ongoing crackdown on Uighurs and Muslim minorities, and race and identity in South Africa and the U.S. She also serves on the Center’s Advisory Board. She is recipient of the MacArthur “Genius” award and currently serves as distinguished scholar at the Leitner Center on International Law and Justice and the Center on Race, Law, and Justice at Fordham Law School.
