Man surrenders, woman and boy safe after 26-hour Brisbane siege
An armed man surrendered to police and was taken into custody almost 26 hours after he sparked a stand-off at a house in Brisbane’s south where he was holed up with a young boy and a woman.
Police remained tight-lipped about what led to the siege at the Sunnybank home, which started about 10.30am on Thursday.

In an update just before 12.30pm on Friday, police revoked an exclusion zone around the Dyson Street home after the man walked out of the home with officers.
A police spokesman said the man had surrendered himself and the woman and toddler were “safe and well”.
“Police have taken a man into custody without incident, further details to follow,” police said in a statement.
Footage from the scene showed a number of people including specialist police in the front yard of the home as the situation was brought to an end. The woman and boy exited the house unharmed.
Police had earlier dismissed reports of gunshots in the area as loud noises unrelated to the incident.
Inspector Michelle Piket said officers originally went there because they were “investigating some serious offences”, but she would not go into detail.
Police were expected to provide an update on Friday afternoon.
