Mumbai, Feb 18 (UNI) Extending losses for the third consecutive session on Thursday, the BSE Sensex dropped 379.15 pts to settle at 51,324.69 on heavy selling in Telecom, Finance, Health Care and Bankex stocks.

The Nifty too fell 89.95 pts to 15,118.95.

High volatility was witnessed on Thursday as the Sensex opened higher by 200 pts at 51,903.96, which remained days high.

Later, it was nosedived 617 pts to 51,186.68, days low before closing at 51,324.60 from its previous close.

The sensex registered days high and low at 51,903.96 and 51,186.68 pts respectively.

The Nifty recorded days high and low at

15,250.75 and 15,078.05 pts.

The sectoral indices that kept the market under pressure were Finance, Bankex, Realty, Telecom and Health Care stocks.

The scrips that fell were Bajaj Finance, Kotak Bank, M & M, Nestle India and HDFC Bank.

While scrips that went up were NTPC, Asian Paints, Tech Mahindra, Power and IndusInd Bank.

The Mid Cap was up by 0.69 pc and Small Cap by 0.67 pc.

In 30 scrips, 12 advanced while 18 declined.
