Though nothing much is known and the meeting has been termed as `courtesy visit` but speculations across various corridors says, CM Banerjee met the Governor to discuss the ongoing catfight between Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Trinamool ahead of Assembly Elections.
Apart from that, it is being speculated she discussed the brutal attack on her minister Jakir Hossain at Nimtita railway station, Murshidabad, late Wednesday night.
The chief minister had blamed the Centre and ordered a CID inquiry into the matter. “Our police cannot take up the investigation unless it is handed over to them by the Railway Protection Force,” she had said after visiting the minister on Thursday.
Both the chief minister and governor had a meeting that lasted for over an hour but nobody has issued any statement so far. However, sources said the governor took a strong exception to the manner in which Banerjee blamed the Centre.
