Over 23,000 sq yards government land saved by GHMC
Since the launch of the APC in July 2020, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), with the help of residents who tipped officials, was able to save 23,340 square yards of government property from land grabbers. The total value of the properties that were eyed by the land sharks and later protected by the APC, runs into crores of rupees. Most of the land saved till date is lung spaces marked as parks and open spaces in layouts.
Cabbies protest, want fare hiked, drivers reinstated
In view of the rise in fuel prices, scores of cab drivers took over the protest site at Indira Park on Thursday urging cab aggregators to hike fare, reinstatement of off-boarded drivers, minimum business guarantee among other demands.
Digital survey of farm land soon: CM KCR
In yet another initiative to overcome glitches in maintenance of agriculture land records, chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao said the government will soon take up digital survey of all farm lands in the state and provide coordinates. The CM directed the officials to make arrangements for floating tenders in this regard.

799 polling stations for 5 lakh voters
A total of 5,17,883 people have so far enrolled to vote in the elections to Mahabubnagar-Rangareddy-Hyderabad graduates’ constituencies, scheduled to be held on March 14. They will be able to exercise their franchise across 799 polling stations. “The number of voters will increase; the final number will be announced on February 26. Of the 799 polling stations, 183 are proposed auxiliary stations,” said a GHMC official.
With election code in force, wait for sops gets longer
The election code for the two graduate MLC constituencies has affected lakhs of people waiting for welfare schemes and sops from the state government. Schemes such as unemployment allowance, issuance of new ration cards and extension of Aasara pensions for the new category of people aged between 57 and 65 years among other benefits cannot be rolled out as the poll code is in force for the MLC elections.
