HC Lawyer couple murder: Lawyers protest across Telangana, BJP demands probe; TRS suspends Mandal President from party

Hyderabad, Feb 18 (UNI) Condemning the brutal daylight murder of Telangana Hight Court lawyer couple G Vaman Rao and Nagamani, hundreds of lawyers across the state have staged a protest on Thursday.
Staging protests at the Hyderabad High Court, RangaReddy district court and Secunderabad court here, the advocates demanded that the police act swiftly and nab the killers soon and ensure that strict punishment is given to them.
Many lawyers boycotted court proceedings and their duties as a protest against the brutal killing that took place in Peddapalle on Wednesday.
At Adilabad, Advocates working with various courts across erstwhile Adilabad district also boycotted work demanding stern action against the culprits in the brutal killing of lawyer couple.
Alleging that the police were delaying in nabbing the suspects, the lawyers said there have been frequent attacks on lawyers in recent times.
Similar protests of raising slogans against the heinous killing and demanding stringent action against those who were involved in the inhuman crime were also held at the district headquarters of Mancherial, Nirmal and Kumram Bheem Asifabad.
Meanwhile, the Peddapalli police have arrested three persons including the main suspect, Kunta Srinivas, who were allegedly involved in the murder of High Court lawyer couple.
The couple was mercilessly stabbed to death near Kalwacherala of Ramagiri Mandal in Peddapalli on Wednesday afternoon.
When passersby asked Vamana Rao about the assailants, he was heard mentioning the name of a Kunta Srinivas.
In a complaint lodged with the police, Vamana Rao’s father Kishan Rao also mentioned the names of Kunta Srinivas, Akkapaka Kumar and Vasantha Rao as responsible for his son and daughter-in-law’s murder.
The ruling TRS party has suspended its Manthani Mandal president Kunta Srinivas from the party as he is one of the suspects in the murder of advocate couple.
The party suspended Kunta Srinivas from the party under its disciplinary conduct.
