Half of US consumers own at least one smart home device - NPD

Half of the people in the US owned at least one smart home device in January, from 35 percent the year before, according to the latest study from NPD. Security cameras remain the most commonly owned smart home device -they have been for four years- making up 1 in every 4 smart home purchased in 2020, Still, strong gains were seen for security systems (+44%), smart garage door openers (+21%), and smart lighting (+19%), as people shifted their attention during the pandemic to home projects and more convenience-driven categories.
