The skeletal remains of a Beaumont woman who was missing for months were found near Vinton, Louisiana, last week, with investigators from multiple agencies yet to make any charges related to her death.

Kayla Rice, 33, was last seen in late November and was subsequently reported missing to authorities in December. The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office received a call last Thursday afternoon and responded to Ged Road, where the remains were found.

Rice was six months pregnant at the time of her disappearance, according to information from the Beaumont Police Department. Detectives interviewed several of Rice’s associates at the time but were not able to locate her.

Rice was last known to be living in the 1100 block of McFaddin Avenue in Beaumont. BPD located Rice’s car soon after she was reported missing. The car had been “physically altered,” according to the department.

BPD is investigating the case alongside the Calcasieu Parish Sherrif’s Office and the FBI.
