AAP more stronger in cities, vote share too rises highly this yr than last yrs' polls:Mann

In a statement here on Thursday, AAP Punjab unit president and MP Bhagwant Mann said in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had got around 5 to 5.5 per cent votes in the urban areas. However in this election, the party got almost 3 times more votes than the 2019 Lok Sabha election. “This is a very good sign for the party,” he added.
Mann said the vote share of the party in every urban body of Punjab had increased considerably than before. He said the party's vote share in many other local bodies, including Amloh, Amritsar, Baba Bakala, Banga, Batala, Dasuya, Fatehgarh Sahib, Khanna, Majitha, Nabha, Pathankot, Patti, Payal, Rajpura, Samrala and Sujanpur had increased significantly as compared to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and the party's position had been greatly strengthened.
“This shows that the people of urban areas have increased inclination towards AAP. Now along with the villages of Punjab, the people of the cities are also supporting the Aam Aadmi Party and expressing their trust in the party,” he added.
He said despite extreme violence in Patti and Baba Bakala, the party increased its vote share significantly compared to the 2017 assembly elections. “The AAP candidates were attacked here and were threatened, yet many AAP candidates won in these local bodies' polls. Now the AAP has become strong in both rural and urban areas in Punjab. The party will fight stronger in the 2022 assembly elections and form its government,” he added.
Mann said Majha and Doaba, where the party was earlier in a weak position; a lot of support from the people was received in this election as well and the vote share increased significantly as compared to earlier status. He thanked the urban voters who have relied on the AAP and said millions of urban people of Punjab voted for the Aam Aadmi Party for change. “Today, it is because of them that the party has strengthened its position in the urban areas of Punjab,” he added.
