Petrol price goes up to Rs 96 in Mumbai, diesel touches Rs 87

MUMBAI: Diesel price was hiked for the ninth consecutive day here and is 2 paise shy of Rs 87, the highest ever here on Wednesday. Transporters said this will be instrumental in prices of vegetables and fruits and other essentials going up in few days.
Petrol touched Rs 96 on Wednesday. Petrol and diesel prices have been hiked 21 times this year, with the two auto fuels increasing by Rs 6 in 2021.
Diesel in the state has breached the Rs88-mark in Amravati. Abhishek Gupta of Bombay Goods’ Transport Association said freight rates are being revised this week, which will push up prices of essentials. Transporters will join the one-day token strike on February 26 in the state. They did not rule out the possibility of a chakka jam in March if there was no rollback in taxes and excise duties, or reduction in prices. Diesel in Amravati was for Rs88.37 a litre. Somit Sen
