Senator Ted Cruz Getting Slammed For Traveling to Cancun Amid Deadly Winter Storm in Texas

Ted Cruz is coming under fire.
Late Wednesday night (February 17), Twitter erupted after the 50-year-old Texas Senator was photographed boarding a plane to Cancun while his state is in the middle of a crisis.
“Just confirmed @SenTedCruz and his family flew to Cancun tonight for a few days at a resort they’ve visited before. Cruz seems to believe there isn’t much for him to do in Texas for the millions of fellow Texans who remain without electricity/water and are literally freezing,” journalist David Shuster tweeted along with photos of Cruz aboard the plane.
Texas is currently experiencing a historic deep freeze, which has killed at least 21 people and knocked out power to more than 4 million people across the state.
After the photos went viral, users – including celebrities – took to Twitter to slam Cruz for traveling to the island while leaving his state to fend for its self.
“Ted Cruz tweeting a glowing tribute to Rush Limbaugh from a resort in Cancun (where he flew tonight while his constituents are literally freezing to death) is peak @GOP,” Padma Lakshmi tweeted.
Senator Ted Cruz has not addressed his trip to Cancun yet.

He was right. Ted Cruz will not go quietly in the night! No sir. He will go during the daytime on a nonstop flight to Cancun.

Good night everyone, I'm thinking about the people of Texas. Ted Cruz may have abandoned you all during your time of need but the American people are with you. Let us know how we can help.

Can't wait for reporters to start asking other Texas Republicans if they think it's appropriate for their colleague Ted Cruz to be vacationing in Cancun while his constituents die of hypothermia

Texans are literally freezing to death and Ted Cruz is off soaking up the sun in Cancun. This scandal should destroy his political career. The Fled Cruz nickname needs to stick.

While @tedcruz was flying to Cancun @BetoORourke was actually in Texas making wellness-check- phone-calls.
I know this because I was on the zoom—also making calls— and watching him work his ass off for his fellow Texans.
We need more leaders who lead from a place of love.

Fox News did 8 weeks on Nancy Pelosi’s haircut, they won’t do 8 seconds on Ted Cruz’ desertion.

To be fair, Ted Cruz bailing for Cancun probably isn’t as bad as his helping incite an insurrection to overturn a free and fair election. #relativism

We thought Ted Cruz couldn’t possibly get any worse…
He actually got worse
Dude flew to Cancun while millions across Texas are suffering

Ive had a change of heart.
If Ted Cruz is out of the country, I'm all for securing that border now.

The Ted Cruz to Cancun while constituents are boiling water and freezing to death has absolutely broken my brain.
Jan 2021: incite an insurrection to overthrow democracy, then vote to overturn an election
Feb 2021: take a vacation while entire state is freezing sans power
