A 24-year-old woman got a call from a friend to meet him at a resto-bar. Never had she thought, that the meeting with the friend would end up with her getting attacked and robbed. The woman has filed asexual harassment complaint against her friend, who went rogue on her at a resto-bar on Residency Road . The man proposed marriage to her and when she said she needed time to think, he snatched her mobile phone and debit cards and withdrew Rs. 45,000 from her account. He also bit and slapped her when she refused to go home with him.
Irene (name changed), a resident of Thanisandra has filed a complaint against EricCharles with Ashoknagar police on Saturday.
Police said that he misbehaved with her at the pub and sexually harassed her.
“I had come to the pub at 6 pm, when he called and said he needed to speak to me. He joined me at the restaurant and said he wanted to marry me. I told him that I needed time and also needed to speak to my parents,” she said in the complaint. She alleged that hearing this, he just snatched her mobile phone, debit cards and managed to withdraw Rs 45,000 from her account. “When I objected, he bit and slapped me as I refused to cooperate with his whims. After he left, I went to St Philomena’s hospital for treatment and subsequently went to the police to file a complaint against him.”
Police said that she and the accused have been acquainted for several years. “She told us that he forced her to marry him and assaulted her when she refused. She also said he had taken money from her, which is yet to be verified. He is currently absconding,” said the officer. The police have booked him under 354 (Outrage of woman modesty), 354A (Sexual harassment) 354B (Assault or use of criminal force to woman with intent to disrobe) and other sections.
