The much-awaited auction for IPL 2021 is here. A total of 292 cricketers are all set to go down under the hammer in Chennai. The IPL 2021 auction will begin at 3 pm on February 18 i.e today. All eyes would be on Aussie Glenn Maxwell as he again is favorite to be the most expensive player in the bidding.
Rs 2 crore is the highest reserve price and two Indian players – Harbhajan Singh and Kedar Jadhav — and eight overseas players — Glenn Maxwell, Steve Smith, Shakib Al Hasan, Moeen Ali, Sam Billings, Liam Plunkett, Jason Roy & Mark Wood have chosen to be slotted in the highest bracket in the IPL 2021 auction.
Eight IPL franchises — Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals, Kings XI Punjab, Kolkata Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunrisers Hyderabad — will spend INR 196.6 Cr on buying 61 players to fill the slots in their team.
Notably, RCB has the most number of available slots (13). While KXIP has the maximum amount to spend i.e. ₹53.20 crores in the IPL 2021 auction.
A total of 164 Indian players, 125 overseas players, and 3 players from Associate Nations will be up for grabs in the IPL 2021 Player Auction in Chennai.
