The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Thursday issued fresh Covid-19 guidelines in Mumbai due to a rise in cases. As per BMC Commissioner IS Chahal, hereon a building found to have five or more Covid patients will be sealed. Furthermore, the new guidelines state that citizens breaking rules of home isolation, public gatherings and weddings would be prosecuted.

“Stamps will be put on back of the hands of the patients staying in home quarantine. 300 marshals will be hired to keep an eye on people traveling in local trains without face mask. Besides, additional marshals will be hired to keep an eye on violators in Mumbai,” the BMC said.

Other notable rules state that travelers from Brazil to Mumbai will now be put in a compulsory seven-day quarantine, while more emphasis will be given to regular inspections to catch violations.

Earlier today, a lockdown was imposed in Maharashtra’s Amravati district from Saturday 8 pm to Monday 7 am amid fear of rising coronavirus cases.
