KXIP (now Punjab Kings) has the reputation of going into the auctions every year with the most inflated purse and they do purchase some heavyweight players. They had an oscillating season last year where they fell short of the line by inches but managed to gain some momentum going deeper into the auction but not good enough for them to make them qualify for the playoffs stage. They made some surprising releases ahead of the auction and will be the most active franchise in the room on Feb 18th.

- Punjab Kings buys Australian pacer Jhye Richardson for Rs 14 crores.
- Punjab Kings buys uncapped Shahrukh Khan for Rs 5.25 crores.
- Punjab Kings buys uncapped Riley Meredith for Rs 8 crores.
- Punjab Kings buys Moises Henriques for Rs 4.2 crores.
- Punjab Kings buys Jalaj Saxena for Rs 30 lakhs.
- Punjab Kings buys Utkarsh Singh for Rs 20 lakhs.
- Punjab Kings buys Saurabh Kumar for Rs 20 lakhs.
They have a purse remaining of Rs.53.2 Cr to spend on as many as 9 players. They have retained 16 players of which only 3 players are of foreign nationality. Do not wonder if they go berserk after a few foreign players to check that box.
