Punjab : Kapurthala launches massive drive to prepare SSBY cards

Kapurthala, Feb 18 (UNI) With an aim to enable all needy ones for free health treatment upto Rs 5 lakh, the district administration has chalked out a comprehensive plan under which a massive drive has been started to cover all the 1,09,737 families by making 3.76 lakh e-cards in next 20 days.
Farmers, small traders, construction workers, BPL families having ration card, journalists having yellow and accreditation cards along with their families to be covered in this welfare scheme. The scheme also offered treatment of serious diseases as well as cashless treatment in MRI and CT scan.
Presiding over a meeting to speed up the Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojna (SSBY) cards after taking part in the video conference with the Principal Secretary (Health), Deputy Commissioner Deepti Uppal said, "the district administration has fixed the target to make 3.76 lakh card in next 20 days, under which free treatment to be provided to beneficiaries in all government and private approved hospitals in the district."
She asked the officials of food supply, construction workers welfare board, Mandi board and excise department to enhance the efforts to meet the target in minimum time as till now the district have witnessed generation of 1,00,627 cards.
She said a district route plan has been framed in special focus to target those villages where less than 15 e-cards have been issued besides mobilizing beneficiaries through ASHA workers , anganwari workers , BDPOs and CDPOs.

Ms Uppal has also asked the district mandi officer to start a drive by making phone calls to remaining 9000 farmers to come farward for e-cards at Market Committee offices at Kapurthala, Sultanpur Lodhi, Phagwara, Bholath and Dhilwan where special points have been set up by the CSC and Vidal companies to generate cards.
At the meeting, the Assistant Medical Commissioner informed that the people would also be able to make cards at civil hospital and all CHCs from 0900 hrs to 1700 hrs daily.
Besides that as per the instructions of the Punjab Government, the Tier-1 sewa kendras of the district, which is at district administrative complex, has already started the process to generate e-cards under SSBY. To facilitate the people further , the sewa kendras at sub division level in Phagwara, Sultanpur Lodhi and Bholath would start this people friendly service from Feburary 22 , followed by the all sewa kendras including at village level from Feburary 26.
For the construction workers registered with the Punjab construction workers welfare board , special camps was also started at labour office , Hamira road near DIC kapurthala. It may be mentioned here that more than 5000 workers would be covered under that category.
Terming it a flagship program of the Punjab Government for the welfare of the masses , Deputy Commissioner Deepti Uppal has started the progress of e-cards generation on regularly basis besides appointing officers like Assistant Medical Commissioner and ADC D S P Angra to monitor it on daily basis.
