After brief rolling outages on Tuesday night, Entergy rolled into Wednesday morning with mostly good news for Southeast Texas and progress to show for the hours of work from crews on the ground.

At 8 a.m., the utility said there were around 33,000 customers without power across the entire Entergy Texas area, a stark contrast from the hundreds of thousands that lost power at some point over the last few days.

Just a few hours after Entergy had said its grid manager had given the OK to end any rotating outages, the increased demand during the early evening triggered another round of blackouts from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Representatives from Entergy wrote in a Wednesday morning update that it seemed to be in the clear for the time being, but more outages weren’t out of the question.

“Entergy Texas, working with MISO, will continue to monitor the situation, as weather conditions will still pose challenges this morning and in the coming days,” representatives wrote in an update. “Wintry weather could cause additional outages.”

Southeast Texas is still under a winter storm alert from the National Weather Service until Thursday, with mostly rain expected in the forecast. Temperatures will remain in the high 20s for the rest of the week

Forecasters predict a cold but dry weekend.

Electricity customers are being asked to conserve energy while Entergy works on restoring generation and getting power back on.

Downed power lines or outages can be reported at 1-800-9OUTAGE.
