Nintendo announced that Annapurna Interactive's space exploration game Outer Wilds makes its way to Nintendo Switch this summer. An exact release date has not been announced.
Outer Wilds, not to be confused with Obsidian Entertainment's The Outer Worlds, is an open-world mystery game where players have 22 minutes to explore space before the universe is engulfed in a supernova. After that, the clock resets. The game's loop is reminiscent of The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, where players have a limited amount of days (that could be extended using the ocarina) to prevent the smiling moon from crashing into the world.
The game received a bevy of praise following its 2019 launch on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. It's even won some awards, including Best Indie Game at the 2019 Golden Joystick Awards. GameSpot also named Outer Wilds one of the best games of 2019.
In our Outer Wilds review, critic Alessandro Barbosa gave the game a 9/10 and wrote, "By letting you chart your own course and piece together its mystery at your own pace, Outer Wilds makes each of its expeditions feel incredibly personal and absolutely unmissable."
