Kanpur: Worker dies in tanning drum in Jajmau tannery

KANPUR: A 30-year-old worker allegedly died after getting stuck in a tanning drum at a tannery unit in Jajmau area under the limits of Chakeri police station in the early hours of Tuesday.
The victim was identified as Manish Paswan.
Paswan, who was originally a native of Vaishali district of Bihar, lived in a rented accommodation in Maikupurwa area of Jajmau in Chakeri along with his wife and a child.
He had been working with the leather tanning unit at Siddhnath Ghat area for the past two years.
‘He got stuck in drum, died’
Inspector Chakeri police station Dadhibal Tiwari told TOI that “the incident occurred while the deceased along with other workers was working on the tanning drum used for drying leather at the unit when he got stuck in the drum and died later in the early morning hours of Tuesday.”
