CHANDIGARH: Police have arrested a 23-year-old resident of Patiala for allegedly raping a Class IX student who had come to the city after skipping her classes in a Punjab town.
Police said they had received a zero FIR of rape from Punjab Police on February 5.
In her statement, the 15-year-old girl said she had bunked her school along with her friend and reached the city. The accused had met them and assured to help the two. The girl’s friend managed to come back home. The accused took the 15-yearold girl to a house and allegedly raped her. When she reached home at last, she narrated her ordeal to her parents. Her parents took her to a police station and lodged a complaint against the accused.
The Chandigarh Police recorded the statement of the girl and conducted her medical examination.
Police produced the accused before a local court, which remanded him in judicial custody.
