“The team management will arrive at Grand Chola on February 17,” a Rajasthan Royals (RR) official told InsideSport. “Once we arrive at the venue, there will be a COVID-19 test,” the RR official added.
AUCTION Rules for IPL Teams Representatives
- According to the COVID-19 guidelines set by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), there will be no quarantine for the owners. However, they will have to undergo an RT-PCR test on February 15.
- A maximum of 13 members will be allowed in the venue where the auction will be conducted. Out of the 13, eight will be allowed to sit at the auction table while five will be seated in the gallery.
- For those arriving on the day of the auction, the advisory says, “All personnel arriving on the 18th February 2021 must quarantine in their respective rooms until results of the RT-PCR test are available. Reports of samples collected before 9 am on 18th February 2021 will be available by 1 pm. Only those individuals who have tested negative for COVID-19 will be permitted to attend the IPL 2021 auctions.”
The IPL Auction is likely to be a 3 horse race. KingsXI Punjab (KXIP) has the most available purse of Rs 53.2 crore, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) have Rs 35.4 crore and Rs 37.8 crore respectively – these teams will be the most active teams at the auctions with others just being the support cast.
A total of 292 players will go under the hammer. Rs 2 crore is the highest reserve price and two Indian players – Harbhajan Singh and Kedar Jadhav – and eight overseas players – Glenn Maxwell, Steve Smith, Shakib Al Hasan, Moeen Ali, Sam Billings, Liam Plunkett, Jason Roy & Mark Wood have chosen to be slotted in the highest bracket.
12 players are in the auction list with a base price of INR 1.5 crore. Hanuma Vihari and Umesh Yadav are the two Indian players in the list of 11 cricketers with a base price of INR 1 crore.
A total of 164 Indian players, 125 overseas players and 3 players from Associate Nations will be up for grabs in the VIVO IPL 2021 Player Auction in Chennai.
The auctions will begin at 3 PM.
