Militants detonated an improvised explosive device (IED) on Tuesday on the national highway in Anantnag’s Bijbehara area.

An official said the IED was hidden in a dumper and was apparently triggered off by a remote-controlled device. The explosion took place near a CRFP patrol manning the Pazalpora area.

“There was a loud explosion. However, no injury was reported during the incident,” official said.

Preliminary reports suggest it was a ‘low intensity’ blast.

A team of police, Army and intelligence agencies have reached the spot for investigation, officials said.

“The area was also cordoned off,” they added.
