MP:45 killed in MP bus accident in Sidhi

A bus carrying over 50 passengers fell into a canal in Sidhi district of Madhya Pradesh today after the driver lost control over the vehicle. Seven people have been rescued so far and the search and rescue operation has now been called off. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior leaders expressed their condolences to the bereaved families.

The rescue operation has been completed. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan has informed that 45 dead bodies have been recovered. These include 24 men, 20 women and a child. Earlier, a team of administration,
SDRF and divers carried out extensive rescue and relief operations at the spot. Bus was going from Sidhi to Satna when the incident occurred.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan constantly remained in touch with District Collector and other senior officials during the rescue operation. Two State Ministers Tulsi Ramsilawat and Ramkhelawan Patel have reached the spot at Sidhi for monitoring the situation.

The Prime Minister has approved an ex-gratia of Rs two lakh each for the next of kin of those who lost their lives. Rs Fifty thousand would be given to those seriously injured, while the Chief Minister announced ex-gratia compensation of Rs five lakh each as immediate relief measure.
