Synopsis

The US increasingly sees the Quad as a ‘security’ pact, if not an alliance. India is hesitant and prefers fuzzier monikers for obvious reasons — it doesn’t want to get ahead of the curve it currently envisions. The land border with China is all too real and the hesitation understandable.

It’s becoming clear the US wants to move quickly towards operationalising the Quad as one of the key policy initiatives to deter China.
